Homemade Eczema Cream With Essential Oils

Eczema is the name for a group of skin conditions that lead to inflammation, itchiness, and redness, including contact dermatitis, stasis dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, dyshidrotic eczema, nummular eczema, and seborrheic dermatitis.

The exact reason for the development of this skin condition is still unknown, but scientists suggest that it is of genetic origin.

Studies have found a link between eczema and the development of asthma and/or hay fever, which is also known as the atopic triad. This means that if one or both parents have eczema, hay fever, or asthma, the chances are that their children will develop one or more of the conditions.

These are the most common triggers of the symptoms or flare-ups of eczema:

  • Food allergies from the consumption of soy, dairy, eggs, seeds, wheat, nuts
  • Chemical irritants found in disinfectants, soaps, detergents, shampoos, and household cleaners
  • Allergens from pet dander, molds, pollens, and dandruff
  • Micro-organisms, such as viruses, bacteria, and fungi
  • Clothing made of wool or synthetic fibers
  • Swings in temperature from hot weather, high and low humidity, sweating during physical activity

Eczema is a common issue that affects over 35 million Americans and is often treated with the application of various eczema creams. Yet, these creams are rich in steroids and harmful chemicals that can lead to numerous side-effects.

Therefore, many people turn to natural eczema remedies, which can be highly beneficial and effective.

Today, we will reveal the recipe of a homemade eczema cream with tea tree oil, lavender oil, coconut oil, shea butter, and honey. This cream will moisturize the skin, treat eczema, and treat all skin impurities. The coconut oil will destroy any bacteria on the skin, and the honey will heal it and soothe the flare up.

Moreover, the lavender essential oil will treat the inflammation, and relieve the symptoms of eczema. On the other hand, tea tree oil has powerful anti-inflammatory qualities too, that will help you heal psoriasis and eczema.

You can also add geranium or myrrh oil, which will alleviate the eczema flare-ups and soothe the inflammation. Yet, do not add these two if you apply the cream on the skin of your children.

It is advisable to make a small patch test before you use any essential oil since these oils can sometimes lead to allergic reactions.

Now, here is how to make this homemade eczema cream:

  • 20 drops lavender essential oil
  • 8 drops tea tree oil
  • 1/2 cup organic coconut oil (or almond or olive oil)
  • 1/2 cup raw shea butter
  • 1 tablespoon organic, local honey
  • 5 drops geranium essential oil and/or 5 drops myrrh essential oil (Optional)

Mix the shea butter and the coconut oil and heat the mixture. Add honey and stir well. Then, pour the essential oils, and leave the mixture to cool. Stir well until the mixture gets a consistency of a lotion.

Apply the cream twice daily on the affected areas. You will experience amazing improvements very soon!
